Security concerns give rise to a strong interest in using cryptographic techniques for protecting data in the cloud. The challenge is to balance security, performance, and functionality. There have been many developments in the last years. But we have still not quite reached practical solutions with strong security. We will look at recent developments and will discuss directions for future research.
The focus of the prior installments of the workshop was searchable encryption but we will likely expand to other applications such PIR and privacy-preserving federated learning as well, which share related techniques.
